Breakthrough
Cental New York is a grass roots organization that was founded to effect
change in the culture of thinking in the Mohawk Valley. Central New
York has always been earmarked for greatness from the time of the ice age
when this beautiful Valley was first formed. It is bounded by majestic
hills and mountains and centered in fertile land with meandering rivers and
streams. It is home to mnay famous people and historic events. People
have been drawn here throughout the centuries and they are what make it so
special. Is is a melting pot for many cultures and ethnicities. In
the early 1900s, immigrants from Poland, Ireland, Germany and Italy streamed
into central New York seeking the American dream. Their conversations
were of possibilities of an extraordinary future. They brought with
them diverse cultures and customs. They brought a bit of their homeland;
ethnic food and festivals that continue to enrich our lives today. But
most of all they brought a spirit of family that makes us unique. This
spirit of extended family is best exemplified in two nationally acclaimed
community events: America's Greatest Heart Run and Walk and The Boilermaker
Road Race. Few communities experience the outpouring of community spirit
that is present during those events. This is who we really are: a
culture of success and possibility. In two generations family members
of those early immigrants became pharmacists, lawyers, teachers, physicians,
dentists, architects, and yes even veterinarians. Today our community
is once again being fed by new cultures and customs. We are now home
to Indian, Russian, Vietnamese, Sudanese and Bosnian immigrants. They've
come to live the American dream and in turn will enrich our community once
again.
So I invite you to
join us in beoming a powerful voice for change. Please fill out and

Mohawk Valley.
