There are
two primary determinants for the proposed design.
1. The desire to have a strong visual impact
from a distant view and
2. To express the idea of folks from around the
world coming to the Northside of Syracuse, forming a diverse community and
joining together to fulfill a common dream of a thriving, vibrant place to live
and raise a family.
The
eight foot tall outer circle represents the world beyond Syracuse
and is directly on axis as one comes down Court Street toward Alvord Park. The cut outs represent the space left behind when
people relocated for new opportunities. The inner circle represents the new
neighborhood where people working together have power beyond the individuals to
create a place they can be proud of.
